StatSeal Disc is the easy way to seal an access site and avoid unnecessary dressing changes. This intuitive topical disc is made of compressed powder (potassium ferrate and a hydrophilic polymer) adhered to medical-grade foam so that it fits securely around a catheter. StatSeal Disc seals the site and prevents any bleeding or oozing.

The mechanism of action is a simultaneous two-step action whereby the hydrophilic polymerrapidly dehydrates the blood and absorbs exudate while the potassium ferrate binds with the blood proteins to create a seal. StatSeal does not depend on the body’s natural clotting mechanism to form a seal. StatSeal Disc has been applied to the patient’s access site.

Ensure that the disc has been placed around the catheter with the brown side towards the patient’s skin. The foam side should be facing up. Do not be concerned by the color of the underside of the disc. The brown color is due to the ingredients.
